Abstract

The mass development of IoT devices has fundamentally altered technology because it enables the interconnection of systems in various fields. Nevertheless, their low processing ability and ill-defined security structures make them highly vulnerable to all forms of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which may cripple the network performance to significant levels. The paper below will explain and discuss all the types of vulnerabilities of IoT devices, survey and analysis of the existing detection and mitigation methods, followed by a proposal of a multi-pronged framework, which incorporates machine learning to identify anomalies in real time and blockchain technology to prevent malicious communication. Its outcomes will indicate that such a framework enhances the level of detection, minimizes false positives, and enhances the overall system resilience. The research paper bridges major security gaps and emphasizes the necessity of advanced security solutions, which are scalable and standardized to secure the IoT ecosystems in smart cities, healthcare, and other critical fields of interest in a digitalized world.
